Posted By: swancky on February 1, 2010 at 9:48 pmAromatic candles will enhance the ambience of a room. If you are a romantic kind of person, you’ll appreciate the aroma of these aromatic wax masterpieces. Treat your guests to a touch of charisma and a sense of cool. Also, the warm glow of just about any candle enhances the classiness of a room.
The subtle aroma of a aromatic candle will heighten your spirit, even before the candle is lit. So when you come home tired and worn out from the day, the presence of the perfumed candles tend to unwind you and make you feel uplifted.
Aromatic candles serve as fantastic gifts for all occasions and every season, and they are particularily meaningful when crafted by your own hands.
1. Select Your Candle Fragrance
Fragrance oil can be bought in most craft shops. You can also look for it on the internet. I suggest that you opt for fragrance oils rather the cheaper alcohol and water based fragrances. Because your wax mix is oil based, your fragrance must also be oil based. Why? Oil and water do not mix so a water based fragrance will not mix by the book with the oil based wax.
2. Choose Your Wax
The basics of making aromatic candles are more or less the same as for ordinary wax candles. Start by choosing your desired kind of wax. Unfilled in the market is a versatile range of wax early with the naturals, beeswax, palm & soy, and progressing to paraffin or gel wax. You’ll want to choose on the aromatic intensity for your candles before choosing your wax. For instance, wax with less density holds less fragrance than higher density wax.
3. The Art of Aromatic Candle Making
Now we’ll go owing to the administer of making aromatic candles.
1st step is to melt your wax. I suggest using a double boiler. That means place the wax in a small pot and, in turn, place that container into a vaguely larger pot containing water. Next step – heat the water. You’ll need a thermometer to ensure the wax is not burnt. The temperature should be maintained at 170-180 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once the wax has melted, place a wick in the mold and remove your wax from the source of heat. Next add the fragrance oil that you’ve elected. A mixture of 1 ounce of fragrance oil to 1 pound of wax will make a fragrance level equal to 6% of candle density. Be aware that stuck-up amounts of fragrance will cause the candle to burn out sooner owing to higher liquid density of the candle.
Now pour the melted wax/fragrance mixture into your mold. The only job remaining is to let it cool before removing your candle from it’s mold.
Congratulations, well done!
4. Experiment as You Go
You will gain fantastic expertise in all phases of candle making once you start experimenting. By using different fragrances and colors, you will perfect the art of candle making and painstakingly delight in the administer.
It’s a fantastic feeling to gift your loved ones with a aromatic homemade candle meaningful that they will find the fragrance both relaxing and invigorating.
